Academic Qualifications
• A Master’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized university is mandatory.
• A PhD in a related field is often an added advantage.
• Must have attended a senior management course lasting at least four (4) weeks at a recognized institution (for senior-level appointments).
Proffessional Experience
• At least 10 years of relevant administrative experience in a university or higher education institution, 5 of which must be at a senior management level (e.g., Deputy Registrar or equivalent).
• Proven experience in academic administration, including management of admissions, examinations, student records, curriculum development, and graduation processes.
• Demonstrated understanding of university policies, academic regulations, and quality assurance processes.
Skills Competencies
• Strong leadership and managerial skills with the ability to coordinate multiple departments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in ICT and student information management systems.
• Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
• High standards of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
• Ability to foster teamwork and maintain confidentiality
Duties Responsibilities
The Registrar (Academic) typically:
• Oversees admissions, registration, examinations, and graduation functions.
• Maintains accurate student academic records.
• Coordinates curriculum development and review processes.
• Implements Senate decisions and academic policies.
• Ensures compliance with Commission for University Education (CUE) guidelines.
• Advises university management and Senate on academic matters
• Supervises staff in the academic registrar’s department
